Velourosaurus was formed when the great Ryan Cyr left Giraffe Attack in pursuit of a normal existence. Eric Bettencourt and Chris Chasse, the remaining members, content to live in full force entropy, enlisted the help of Charles C. "Chuck" Gagne and Richard Corson to pick up where the trio left off. With the luxury of an extra guitar player the four are able to learn more complicated and complex songs. They have amassed a whole new catalog of cover music comprised of rock, blues, funk, and R&B. They hope to write and record a record of original music someday.
Chuck Gagne is one of Portland’s most sought after drummers and has drummed regularly with the likes of The Lucid, Pete Kilpatrick, Spencer Albee, Eric Bettencourt, Pete Miller, and Amanda Gervasi.
Richard Corson got his start and reputation as one of Maine’s best guitar players with the now infamous and defunct Strange Pleasure. He played a few years with popular Grateful Dead cover band, Band Beyond Description and occasionally plays with the professional country outfits of Jenny Paquette Band and the Mark Knight Band.
Chris “The Cheese” Chasse has been playing bass professionally in live bands since the ripe old age of 17. He is involved in several other local music projects and is currently majoring in music studies at the University of Maine at Gorham. Chasse helped found Giraffe Attack four years ago with Eric Bettencourt and Ryan Cyr
Eric Bettencourt, aside from being a founding member of Giraffe Attack, has released a few solo records and continues to play shows solo and with another band around the North East consisting of his original music. He also runs his recording studio, Shadow Shine, and has produced and recorded many popular local music acts.
